Like I said, Monday offered perfect weather to extend my customary long bike ride. A lot. Instead of stopping at the Raccordo, I had resolved to continue to the sea and come back by train from Ostia. I made it, and I enjoyed it despite some faily hairy passages.
Had a wonderful bike ride this morning, effectively the same route as three weeks ago, and this time on the new old bike.
Today was a great day. I went out for a proper first ride on the finally finished tear-down and refurb of my fabulous old Raleigh, a shade over six months after I started.
Took myself off on an expedition today to the other side of town, to a fine and interesting area called Pigneto. Small, low dwellings that were occupied by railway workers line narrow streets and there’s a definite hipsterish vibe about the place. My purpose was to visit Zio Bici, a bike shop that specialises in Bromptons.1
Getting close now to the end of the component cleanup phase on the old bike.
