I would vote for a baboon if it showed any sign of taking “the environment” in general and farming in particular seriously. But no baboons are standing, and I can’t recall any of the party leaders mentioning either “the environment” or agriculture in the build-up to the forthcoming election.
Colin Tudge throws away his vote.1 As I would. Vote None of the Above.
Footnotes:- Though why he does so in a PDF when he has a perfectly good blog continues to confound me. [↩]

But you’d be wasting your vote. A baboon would be an improvement on some members of the house today, but what would he or she achieve?
My nr 1 issue is proportional representation and, ideally, the single transferrable vote system — where your vote ALWAYS counts. It’s demonstrably fair and it makes politics a lot more interesting.
Mind you, the electorate is pretty depressing too. The politicians, benighted they may be, weren’t air-dropped by aliens visiting from another world.
Andrew Sullivan’s latest column in the ST (still readable for free) puts the Conservatives in perspective vis a viz the right in America and is worth a look. Any thought that we could relax and heave a sigh of relief after after the election of Obama… wrong!!
Here, we have been moved by redistricting from a Labour constituency into one with the 2nd largest Conservative majority in the country. It feels like an invitation not to vote. I will anyway, even though it is futile, and am just sorry I don’t have a baboon suit for the occasion.
