So that’s how things were this morning; horrible. Dank, sweaty and stinky.

Beneath it all, though, screws had been screwed and bones had knitted.

And so today, after only 2 1/2 hours wait beyond a pre-booked appointment, they snipped off the bandage, wiggled the wrist and fingers a bit, and maybe three minutes later, max, told me to leave. And here it is now, still somewhat disgusting.

I have to wash it “carefully, like a woman or a baby†and I need some physio. And it is a bit scary. Some things are a lot easier with just the little bit of extra flex and rotation. Others hurt. And it is surprising how swollen everything remains. Still, a weekend in the healing waters of Ischia should help at least a little.

Dude!
Frankenstein eat your heart out. The thing stuck to your bone inside your wrist apears to be a Gillette Easy Shave for women….
Andy, I do believe you are right. And as the milk of human kindness is currently coursing through my veins, I am not going to correct your egregious error.
Dudes!
I guess saying “I bet that hurt” is an understatement. Know just how you feel, though, about having the splint removed. What a relief, and finally back to typing full speed ahead! I had a rheumatoid pannus removed a year ago April 1 and spent a month in the splint. Now I sport a lovely, three-and-a-half-inch, zig-zag scar along the side of my wrist. Looks like an M. Or a W. I prefer thinking of it as a lightning bolt carved by a child. Be kind to yourself and believe: It will look mostly normal again, someday.
Okay so I bookmarked your site to show my husband the Credo (which we love!) and saw your wrist- Deja Vu! My husband broke his in November and has the same hardware and scar! Ladder slipped and he fell from 19 feet- shattered radius. Small athiest world. (Too small unfortunately)
